PAST EVENTS
July 2022 Meeting
On July 13-14 2022, we gathered for the AAML Pennsylvania's Summer Meeting. The meeting took place at the Newport Marriott as an extension of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section Meeting. For those that are also members of the PBA FLS, we got to participate in their CLE. Fellows Julie Colton and David Steerman teamed up with Campbell Barrett, a Connecticut Fellow, to present a program that addressed the complex issues involved when negotiating and drafting cross border prenuptial agreements, including choice of law, financial disclosure, and waiver provisions. Programming Chair Gerald Shoemaker moderated the panel. Special thanks to Neil Brown, Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank of Philadelphia, a generous sponsor of our Chapter.
May 2022 Retreat
On May 6-7, 2022, 25 Fellows from across the Commonwealth gathered at the Bedford Springs Resort in Bedford, Pennsylvania for our annual concentrated 24-hour period of fellowship, learning, and discussion. We were joined by Lyne Ransom, a West Virginia Fellow who chairs the AAML Chapter Leaders. Planned and organized by President-Elect Amy P. De Shong, this conference began with a luncheon that was followed by a three-hour lecture and spirited discussion on blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, NFTs, and other digital assets that was presented by Patrick J. Kurtas, Esquire of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Fellows and Mr. Kurtas gathered that evening for dinner, where old connections were renewed and new ones were made. After an early breakfast the next day, the Fellows attended a second three-hour program where 17 of the attendees presented substantive, procedural, and policy-oriented practice pointers, which generated lively discussion. For part of the conference, we were joined by Neil Brown, Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank of Philadelphia, a generous sponsor of our Chapter.
